A fantastic alternative to Niagara, Prince Edward County has been getting more and more popular over the past few years due to its fabulous wines, charming feel and beautiful landscapes. Not to mention the booming craft beer and spirits. After picking you up from your accommodation in Toronto, you will head to Prince County for the day. After driving along Lake Ontario, you will begin wine tasting in 4 different wineries, ranging from a small family-ran business to a large production wine maker. Along the way, your guide will tell you all about the region, its climate and geology, often compared with Burgundy, as well as the latest trends in winemaking taking place in this thriving new region.
The county is home to farmers, chefs, and cheese makers, and because eating is not cheating, a delicious local lunch is provided at mid-day. In addition there will be chances for tasting local delicacies and visiting small towns throughout the trip. After visiting the final vineyard, depart for your accommodation around 5pm (traffic can affect the timing of drop-off). If you have an interest in beer or spirits, we can substitute a winery for other tasting experiences.

Icewine Tours

Icewine is one of Canada’s national treasures. Naturally frozen grapes hand-picked from the vines are crushed so that only the sweet nectar of the grape is used to make wine. Therefore it’s an arduous, risky and time consuming process. However it has become tradition for a reason as its results are absolutely delicious! There is no better time to check it out (and taste it up) than during the Niagara Icewine Festival.
Learning all about ice wine production and cool climate grapes is even more fun during this festival. There will be a special ice wine tasting with a sophisticated food pairing at each of the premium wineries on this full day tour. Only available during festival season! To top it off, a locally-sourced lunch will be enjoyed at an award-winning winery. Your guide will give you plenty of information about the ice wine characteristics and regulations and also how to best enjoy the festivities and events going on at Niagara-on-the-Lake, as well as a low down of the whole area.
